MEAC Virtual Thanksgiving Boxes 2023

Let's Talk Turkey

Church of the Redeemer (CoR) parishioners who have been with us since pre-Covid times will recall our Thanksgiving outreach for food security to the residents of Madisonville. For newer members of our church family, traditionally we organized a vast individual shopping effort to fill 200 boxes with specified Thanksgiving dinner items and return them with a truck load of turkeys, butter, and eggs to the Madisonville Education and Assistance Center (MEAC) food pantry on the weekend before Thanksgiving.

COVID precautions and protocols changed the format of this ministry, food costs have increased, and our hearts have changed regarding respecting the autonomy of families to choose the foods they prefer for the holiday. We are still committed to helping 200 families via the purchase of $50 Kroger gift cards, the approximate cost of a box and bird with all the fixin's for 6 people.

We ask you to help in one of three ways:

1. You can donate any amount online HERE
2. You can donate any amount by check. Please make it payable to Church of the Redeemer with “MEAC Thanksgiving Meals” in the memo line and mail it to our Director of Finance, Debbi Alsfelder at Church of the Redeemer, 2944 Erie Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208 or drop it off at the church.
3. You can donate any number of $50 Kroger gift cards. Bring them to church in an envelope with your name (for charitable recognition) and "MEAC Thanksgiving" on the outside. (If you wish to recapture the teachable moment and spirit of shopping with the kids to help other families, your children might count or roll loose change with you or contribute from their allowance to help purchase the grocery gift cards.)

Our goal is to raise $10,000 so MEAC can provide 200 gift cards to their local clients.

We ask that you make your contributions no later than Sunday, November 5.
