BY RELATIONSHIPS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
A message from the Rector:
If you are a part of the Redeemer community, we believe you are here for a reason. We believe that God brought us all here, brought us all together. It’s not an accident. We have been brought together by the Holy Spirit to be loved, and to love the world and people God has created. The relationships we build here inspire us to live differently in the world. The life we share here inspires us to take Jesus’ love to everyone we meet.
WHY WERE YOU BROUGHT INTO THIS BELOVED COMMUNITY?
Friends and siblings in Christ, we are in this together. We are not here simply to bide our time or meet people of like interest. We are not here to be coddled. We have been brought together by Christ himself to be loved and to love the world and the people God has created.
Redeemer is part of my family and what I truly value here is not only the worship service, with its beautiful music and liturgy, but also, learning about the Bible. As it turns out, I knew so little about it. Through Bible study, retreats, and the preaching I have grown. So, my aim in life, to the extent I can remember it and do it, is to help bring the Kingdom of God closer now. ~ Mike Krug
Mike Krug shows me what being loving and beloved looks like in real life. His faithfulness affects everyone who calls Redeemer home – even those who don’t know him. His singing in the choir, his help with the strategic plan, with the creation of the Youth and Young Adult Ministry, and his ongoing care of the facility, all spring from a place of love for the people of this community. Mike is a gift to us.
WHAT ABOUT YOUR CONNECTION TO REDEEMER CHANGES THE WAY YOU LIVE IN THIS WORLD?
The way we care for each other here changes the way we live in the world. And while we are trying to figure out how to cope and manage and survive every day, the way we are cared for by people here changes the way we live in the world.
I have to believe that Stephen Ministry was a ministry that was waiting for me. A ministry that is centered on being with someone in crisis. Listening. Caring. In many ways, just showing up. I know how powerful that support is when you are the person in crisis. I wanted to at least try to be that support for someone else. ~ Gretchen Carroll
Gretchen Carroll reminds me that what we do inside the church changes our lives outside the church. She devotes her life to the education and care of others and speaks truth with clarity and compassion. When Gretchen committed to Stephen Ministry at Redeemer, she was drawn by the opportunity to be there for others in difficult times and was inspired by the times the people of Redeemer had been there for her. She is a gift to this church and to this world, placing the hearts and minds of the people around her at the center of her life.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU AT REDEEMER?
My favorite part about Redeemer is the people. The greatest part of my job is simple: I am blown away and inspired on a regular basis by the people who make Redeemer a community of love.
The total love, kindness, giving and acceptance that I feel here renews me spiritually. And it’s genuine - people do these things because they want to, not because they have to. All the wonderful programs that Redeemer is involved with - not only within the church, but throughout the community. We’re making a positive difference, which is wonderful. All of this has changed me for the better, which is awe-inspiring and what a wonderful gift! ~ Jackie Heinitz
Jackie Heinitz is an inspiration to me – an absolute prayer warrior for those who are sick and afflicted in this world, and when asked what fuels her spiritual power, it’s the people. She’s a gift, and she recognizes the people around her as gifts.
YOU ARE A BELOVED GIFT TO REDEEMER, AND YOUR COMMITMENT CHANGES LIVES.
I ask you today to reflect on why you were brought into this beloved community. What about your connection to Redeemer changes the way you live in this world? Your financial commitment is a response to the work that God is doing with you here. Your pledge is a practical way to ensure that others are able to experience the relationships of holy connection and communion that are shaping your life.
