Bread Guild members bake the bread that is used for communion at Church of the Redeemer. Because the objective is to bake moist, crumb-less loaves that are easy to tear into pieces, as well as pleasing the palate, bakers are given a full-proof recipe and provided with training. Bakers usually bake 8-10 times a year and it takes about 3.5 hours to complete the recipe for 6 loaves per service. Bread should be delivered to the designated bins in the freezer at the church by 9:00 am on the Saturday before their designated Sunday.
New bakers are always welcome. For more information and to volunteer to bake, contact, Bread Guild ministry leader, Carol Hesser.
