STEWARDSHIP OF TIME AND TALENT
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in every one. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
The completion of the Cornerstone project (in 2005) means there are now more opportunities to see God working through us and through our efforts. As we apply our time and talents to the ministries of the Church of the Redeemer, then God in our midst will truly be coming to fruition. We are joyfully anticipating our response through expanded ministry with the completion of this work.
In the service of Baptism in the Book of Common Prayer we say “We will” after we are asked by the celebrant “Will you who witness these vows do all in your power to support these persons in their life in Christ?” By saying this, we affirm that we are part of an accountable community. As a part of that accountability we are called to identify and use our gifts in community.
As you think about offering your time and talent, remember each of us has something to give that no one else can give. One gift is not greater than another, only different; no one ministry is more important than another. It’s not about duty; it’s about a joyful response to God’s grace.
