St. Francis Kids

St. Francis Kids is a class for older toddlers. Sometime around the age of two, when parents feel their child is ready for a little more structure, children are welcome to join this class. They will continue in this class until they are ready for Godly Play. (Guidelines for readiness are discussed in the next section of this booklet.)

This class will meet from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon in the St. Francis classroom on the 3rd level (parking lot level) of the church building. The first hour includes circle time with a Bible story based on a monthly theme, music with the use of rhythm instruments, prayer, snack time and art projects. During the second hour the children will be able to choose from various multisensory materials related to our monthly theme. Weather permitting, the children may also go outside to the playground. Our emphasis in this class will be introducing the Biblical stories of our tradition, familiarizing them with music they will hear on Sunday mornings, and creating a little community of believers who know Jesus loves them.

The primary teacher for this class will be Tori Brokamp. Tori is a college student at UC and has been a Redeemerite her whole life. Last year she was an assistant in this class and is very familiar with this age group. Parents will be needed to assist each Sunday and will be scheduled on a rotating basis.
