Our year-long ADULT FORMATION SERIES on the theme of reconciliation will culminate during the month of May with three sessions on reconciliation with creation. We will explore the Biblical witness as well as spiritual and theological perspectives on global warming and climate change. We will look at ways that we can respond both as individuals and as a congregation.

If someone in your family is GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE, we would like to share in the celebration and honor this achievement by listing the information in Redeemer News.  Please contact Elizabeth Grover with complete information about the graduation, and plans for the future.

Redeemer SOLE MATES and HOG COLLARS have received over $1800 in pledges for MEAC by running the Flying Pig Marathon.  Thank you to everyone who pledged. If you would like to make a contribution, return a check to church marked MEAC/SoleMates in the memo line.

Please join us on Sunday, May 18 as we celebrate another WONDERFUL YEAR OF FORMATION at Redeemer. We will gather in the Great Hall following the formation hour to share a parish-wide potluck lunch. Cold cuts and drinks will be provided. Please bring either a side dish or dessert to share.

The CHAPEL CONCERT SERIES returns on Sunday, May 18 at 3 pm with Glenn Gollobin on flute and alto flute and Robert Conda on piano. The concert will feature music with a Latin flair by composers Astor Piazollo, Claude Bolling, and Antonio Carlos Jobin. The concert is free and open to the public.

Team Lachey will be performing to benefit INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK on Sunday, May 18, at 5 pm at the First Unitarian Church in Avondale. Ticket prices are $20 per adult and $10 per student. Children under 12 are free. Contact Mimi Gingold for tickets.

On Memorial Day, Redeemer parishioners will participate in the HUNGER WALK to support MEAC. All ages and abilities are welcome. Our goal is to have 100 participants, with registrations and pledges totaling $5000. Register online at the Freestore/Foodbank website.  Questions? Contact Bonnie Kretschmer.

If you aren't up to walking or running in the HUNGER WALK, please consider volunteering for an event support role such as set-up, pre-registration, first aid station, or finish chute attendant. Please contact Chris Gorz if you would like more information.

The JUNIOR HIGH FORMATION class has decided to focus on Millennium Development Goal number 7:  ensure environmental sustainability.  We need your help in collecting plastic grocery bags and used batteries to recycle.  We will also be selling reusable Redeemer Centennial grocery bags beginning May 11 to further our commitment to the environment.

It is not too early to start thinking about PROCTER SUMMER CAMPS. There is a camp suitable for all ages. Schedules and details can be found on the Procter Website.

MEAC has asked that each participating church focus on a specific item that is always in high demand. Dish detergent may not sound exciting, but if you don't have it and you don't have the money to buy it, it is a precious commodity. Please pick up an extra bottle or two and place them in our little red wagons in the narthex. Secondly, as you are cleaning out closets, please consider donating your gently worn, clean summer clothes to MEAC. Contact Minda Matthews for more information.

MEAC will sponsor neighborhood children for SWIMMING LESSONS at the neighborhood pool. For only $5, you can sponsor a child for the entire summer. In addition, MEAC is collecting towels and slightly used or new swimsuits. Please contact Minda Matthews by Sunday, May 18 if you are interested in sponsoring a child for this valuable program.
