WELCOME!
The Church of the Redeemer Preschool is a Christian preschool serving children ages 2 ½ to 5. Our children grow socially, spiritually and academically through a loving, hands-on, holistic curriculum that allows children to grow at their own speed and to just be children. The supportive teachers, developmentally appropriate curriculum, and weekly chapel time are fully integrated to provide children with exciting, age-appropriate growth opportunities in all areas. Our goal is to develop well-rounded children who are ready for kindergarten. For more information please call Denise Hoefling, Preschool Director at 533-5980 or email Denise.
Preschool Director Denise Hoefling is originally from New Jersey. Denise came to the Cincinnati area to attend Xavier University (where she earned a degree in elementary education and met her husband Kevin) and has stayed in the area ever since. After teaching kindergarten in Covington, KY for several years, Denise stayed at home raising her two children, Sam and Julia; she has been Director of our Preschool since 2003.

REDEEMER PRESCHOOL BOARD AND PARENT/TEACHER ORGANIZATION
The formal purpose of the RPS School Board is to define long-range objectives and policies of RPS and to help administer the operation of the school. Both the Board and the PTO are integral parts of RPS and represents RPS in the larger community. Through their role in communication and hospitality, PTO volunteers raise money, support faculty, and coordinate special events. The association is open to all RPS parents, teachers and members of the church. Meetings are held every other month. For more information about the PTO, contact Denise Hoefling at 513-533-5980 or rpsdirector@fuse.net.
PARENT PARTICIPATION
There are many opportunities are available for parents who might wish to participate in the Preschool program. Information about these opportunities is available through orientation programs, Coffees, and at PTO meeting held during the year. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to share personal interest, including hobbies, talents, cultural background, favorite recipes, etc., with the class. Children are delighted and proud to have a parent visit the class.
LICENSING INFORMATION
Our Preschool is licensed annually by both the State of Ohio and the City of Cincinnati. The Ohio Department of Human Services authorizes Redeemer Preschool to care for a licensing capacity of up to 50 preschoolers, 10 toddlers, and 12 school-age children in attendance at one time. The school’s licensing records of compliance report forms, from the health, building and fire departments, and license are posted in the school’s office, and are available upon written request from the Ohio Department of Human Services in Columbus, Ohio. Their toll free number is 1-800-686-1581. Any person may use this number to report a suspected violation of licensing requirements by the school. All state laws and regulations regarding the school are available for review at the school upon request of a parent. It is unlawful for Redeemer Preschool to discriminate in the enrollment of all children on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, or national origin.

AGE ADULT/CHILD RATIO [MAX GROUP SIZE]

ENROLLMENT AND REGISTRATION
Children who will have reached 30 months of age by October 1 of the school year are eligible for enrollment at Redeemer Preschool. Children are enrolled in Redeemer Preschool in the order of their application regardless of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. During the spring enrollment period, returning children, parishioners and siblings of previously enrolled children are given preference and may enroll prior to the general public. Details are published in the church bulletin. (A mailing list is also maintained of families who have expressed interest in or have been associated with the school.) A $50.00 registration fee must accompany each application. This fee is non-refundable and is not applied to tuition. After notification of acceptance, a $100.00 deposit will be due April 1st. Failure to make this non-refundable payment will forfeit the child’s placement on the enrollment list. Initially, acceptance preference is given to applications from children currently enrolled, from parishioners of the Church of the Redeemer, and from children with a sibling who has previously attended the school. Subsequently, RPS determines remaining openings by order of their applications received. Applications will be accepted only from families who are in good financial standing with the school. Once a child has been admitted to the school, enrollment is considered complete only when the required forms have been submitted to the school office. These forms include a Medical Examination Report, Emergency Medical Treatment Form, Release Forms, and other forms required by licensing agencies or by the school. All completed forms are due one week before school starts. The Medical Examination Report will need to be updated on the child’s birthday during the school year.
ORIENTATION
Orientation will take place on the Sunday before the first day of school. A letter will be sent home with the date and time of orientation. During orientation, each child will visit the classroom and meet his/her teachers and some classmates.
FEES AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE
2-½ year old class $1220.00/year
3 year old class $1376.00/year
4 year old class $1597.00/year
Pre K classes $1879.00/year
Tuition is due September 15th and January 15th in two payments, each of which is half the remaining balance due after payment of the $100.00 deposit. A 5% delinquent fee will be charged on late tuition payments. No child will be permitted to continue school without payment of tuition being current. The Treasurer must approve any need for the payment of tuition in another manner two weeks prior to the beginning of school each semester. Payments can be made by mail or dropped off at the school or church office. Checks should be made payable to Redeemer Preschool.
Refund policy: If it is necessary for the parents to withdraw the child, it is our policy to prorate the tuition and refund the amount corresponding with the number of weeks remaining in the semester, less the $50 registration fee and the $100 deposit, provided that the space can be filled immediately from the waiting list. If the space is filled at a later date, the refund will be prorated to the date the space was filled. If the space is not filled or if the withdrawal is after the tenth week of the semester, there will be no refund. The school reserves the right to recommend the withdrawall of a child whose needs are not best met by the school.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Redeemer Preschool has limited scholarships available based on financial need. Please see Director for more information.
DROP-OFF & PICK-UP PROCEDURES
With support of teachers and parent volunteers, a morning pick-up and drop-off service will be located in the parking lot for parents of PreK and 3-day children. Children in the 2 ½ year old program may participate if they are with an older sibling (or if the teacher and parent agree the child is ready for this). This service will begin the second week of school. Drop-off will be from 8:55 to 9:05 a.m. Pick-up will be from 11:30 to 11:40 a.m. Parents will be required to complete a drop-off/pick-up permission slip. Drivers will be required to display a nametag before a child will be released. Children will be escorted into the building and assisted to class. At pick-up time, children will be escorted form the same door and assisted into cars. Cars using drop-off are NOT to arrive too early, as the lot is very small and used by staff and parishioners for parking.
EXTENDED HOURS
Lunch Buddies is the option for extended hours. Beginning the second week of school, children in the morning classes may stay an hour later (11:30 to 12:30) or afternoon children may arrive at 11:30 am and also have lunch. Florence Phinney, Patty Heywood, and Linda Geers each have 6 spots available. To be fair to all of our families, scheduling is on a monthly basis, with sign-ups occurring the Wednesday before the first of the following month. Unfortunately, this service is not available for children in the 2½ year old class. There is a Little Buddy service available for the 2 1/2 years olds, who may stay 11:00 to 11:30 am with Chris Ahrends. The fee for Early drop-off and for Lunch Buddies is $6.00 per day; the fee for Little Buddies is $3.00 per day. All these fees should be paid directly to the teacher.
SNACKS
Parents will be asked to provide a simple, healthy snack and drink for their child’s class on a rotating basis. In addition, a special snack may be sent in by parents to celebrate birthdays. A Snack Schedule for each child’s class will be sent home, so parents can plan ahead for what week they are responsible.
Each child will get to be snack helper the day he/she brings the snack. The school will provide cups and napkins. Please NO juice boxes or bags.
